This photo was taken in Boston. I took it because decay and deterioration is my favorite thing to photograph. I liked how there are multiple things going on in this picture, like the cracked glass with the reflection of the building in the window.
There is texture, deterioration, reflection, and leading lines in this picture. The texture of the concrete wall shows that the building is old. The framing of the windows creates leading lines. The crack in the window also creates lines that your eye follows. This picture reminds me of the time I went to Boston for the Science Fair in 10th grade. I was walking down the street and found this building with a cracked window. It also shows both the good and bad. The building that is deteriorating is the bad, and rough areas and then the reflection of the newer building shows the good and new. To improve my photo I would maybe have angled the photo differently, taking it a little more upward so the concrete wall is shown a little less and have the focal point be the middle of the crack in the window. |
